This year one of my targets is to attends some more conferences and, if possible, to
share with attendees by presenting as well.
Receiving the acceptance email from OUGN last December was a great way to start with
this new target (yes it’s a 2016 target but because of the timing of the selection process
of the main conferences I had to submit abstracts last year).
Learning from my conferences attending and speaking experience last year (Kscope15
in Florida) I decide to not submit only highly technical topics interesting only a bunch of
experts but to cover a wider audience with also some high level overview of concepts or
processes around OBIEE or business intelligence in general.
The accepted topic for OUGN16 is of that kind, a more high level paper:
OBIEE Security: It’s a Jungle Out There
OBIEE developer or administrator, manager, or user – the security of the data displayed as well as the functionality available is the most crucial thing to get right. Whether on OBIEE 11g or 12c, security is all too often the same story: Sounds simple, but many developers underestimate the complexity of a coherent, comprehensive, and successful system-wide security strategy. Often the final solution is a mix of simple or no security and complex “tactical” solutions (hacks), and each new additional project just adds more chaos. In this session, we will discuss in detail the different security layers of OBIEE (RPD, Presentation Service, and Catalog), and a standard and universal approach will be offered. This solution is able to match most requirements while remaining flexible enough to be extended for the most extreme needs. From the small departmental setup to a full corporate BI solution: a single model to rule them all.
Can’t wait to cover this topic as I strongly believe it’s a key element success factor of any
OBIEE (and generally BI) projet but too often it is underrated.
I will not be alone presenting this session, it will be co-presented by Christian Berg who
also has another session at OUGN16.
So if you are in Norway next week just get onboard and join us, if you already planned
to attend OUGN16 I wait you all on Friday at 9h30.
